The Museum and Culture Center
Lake Wales museum and culture center consists of four builings. The main buiding housing the moajority of the historical relics and memorablia is the pink depot. The Pink Depot is a restored 1928 Atlantic Coastline Railroad Depot with railroad cars located on the south side of the depot. In 1916, a tin-roofed freight depot was built and now holds the Lake Wales Model Railroad Club’s HO-scale model railroad layout of the East Coast.
The childrens museum and girl scout meeting place is in the White Cottage that was built in the 1920s as a womens club. The final building is a white bungalow built in 1920 known as the Stuart-Dunn-Oliver Historic House Museum.

The Legend of SPOOK HILL…
Just outside Downtown Lake Wales placed upon a gravity hill Spook Hill gives an optical illusion that cars appear to be rolling up the hill.
The hill consists of sand and limestone which two to three million years ago when the sea level was much higher were islands.

The Dixie Walesbilt Hotel is a historic hotel in Lake Wales. It is also know as the Grand Hotel in downtown Lake Wales Florida.
The hotel was built in 1927 and was added to the US National Regiser of Historic places in 1990. With an ornate interior detailed with marbel italian ceilings and wrought iron, shopping acades, and a central atrium the hotel opened January 1927 two years before Bok tower was completed.
In 1995, it was closed after being sold at auction. The interior of the hotel was to be renovated and reconstructed but was never completed.
